Meeting of Emomali Rahmon with Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development
Dushanbe, 17.03.2016 (NIAT «Khovar»). — Today, on the second day of his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has met with the Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi.
The two sides discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
«From the beginning of the Tajik state independence we paid special attention to the revival and expansion of comprehensive cooperation with the Arab countries, including with the United Arab Emirates», — said President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
The parties also exchanged views on the priorities and finding new ways to strengthen and expand relations, develop opportunities and expand cooperation, and make use of the rich natural resources of Tajikistan, the participation of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development to expand and implement effective long-term projects.
According to Emomali Rahmon, the Government of the country in the framework of the open-door policy has created the entire regulatory and legal framework with preferences to attract foreign direct investment. This will allow foreign companies, including financial institutions and the donors of the Emirates to be the most actively involved with their capital in the implementation of programs.
It was emphasized that currently in Tajikistan 14 joint ventures of the Emirates have been registered and the volume of trade does not meet the requirements of the day, taking into account all available resources and opportunities.
In this regard, in order to expand mutually beneficial trade and economic relations, it was stressed the need for implementation of a number of concrete steps in the field of extraction and processing of minerals, mining, light and food industries, construction of small and medium-sized hydroelectric power plants and improving transport infrastructure.
A constructive conversation took place on many issues of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and the Emirates.
