Emomali Rahmon meets with PM of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif
Dushanbe, 11.05.2016 / NIAT «Khovar» /.The Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon met with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who arrived in Tajikistan on a working visit to attend the launching ceremony of a High Voltage Direct Current (DC) transmission line CASA-1000 project.
The meeting expressed satisfaction with the progress of Tajikistan and Pakistan cooperation in the spheres of politics, economy and trade, security, culture, science and education, having good prospects for development.
It was emphasized that the legal framework of interstate multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan consists of 50 intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements, providing for the development of bilateral relations in all spheres of cooperation.
The sides expressed confidence that the efforts of both countries will bring positive results in achieving the stated objectives in the implementation of CASA-1000 and play an effective role in sustainable socio-economic development of the Central and South Asia countries
Also the importance and timeliness of establishing a direct air route Dushanbe-Lahore was noted, and the Tajik side reaffirmed its readiness to provide Pakistani markets with fresh fruits and vegetables and dried fruits from Tajikistan.
The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, including cooperation within the framework of influential regional and international organizations, to strengthen the transport and transit links, achieving the highest rates in the foreign trade, the implementation of other priority energy and road projects, participation in ensuring regional security and stability, as well as on development of cooperation in the fields of agriculture and health.
At the meeting the sides discussed other topical issues of mutual interest.
