Leader of the Nation welcomed at Yovon railroad station
Dushanbe, 24.08.2016 / NIAT «Khovar» /. Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon officially put into operation in a solemn ceremony Vahdat-Yovon section of Dushanbe-Qurghonteppa-Kulob railroad in Yovon district.
This railroad connects the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan with Khatlon Province. Construction of Dushanbe-Qurghonteppa-Kulob railroad, which is of regional and international importance, was launched in March 2009. The total length of Vahdat-Yovon section is 40.7km, and the railroad line has 3 tunnels and 8 large and medium bridges. The Head of State during a meeting with residents and road builders noted that «the construction of the railroad in highlands is an extremely complex process, but due to the fact that the country’s government has made a final decision to build a road, all the difficulties are behind us. This road is a continuation of the implementation of a strategic objective — to bring the country out of communication deadlock».
The tunnels and bridges have been built during a year by the 19th Management of Chinese Railroad Company and «Muomilot» Co. Ltd. More than 23 domestic and foreign engineering and construction companies took part in the construction of this facility. Dushanbe-Qurghonteppa-Kulob railroad has been built with investment financed by loans and grants from the People’s Republic of China and the Government of Tajikistan.
The Leader of the Nation during his meeting with residents has called Dushanbe-Qurghonteppa-Kulob railroad a worthy celebratory gift to the glorious people of Tajikistan and the population of Khatlon Province on the eve of 25th anniversary of State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, and noted that the construction of the road and, in general, all creative work in the country are the result of country’s independence.
The Head of State Emomali Rahmon in his statement outlined that «the country has set a goal to develop and progress, and it can not ensure its consistent and sustainable development without the construction and reconstruction of internal communication networks, bringing them into line with international standards».
