Meeting of the Leader of the Nation with the Chairperson of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko
Dushanbe, 13.10.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Today, at the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon received the Chairperson of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.
During the meeting, both sides discussed issues of current state and prospects of bilateral friendly relations between Tajikistan and Russia in the priority areas of mutual interest.
«Tajikistan and Russia are real strategic partners», said President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and highlighted that Tajikistan is paying due attention to the everyday development and strengthening of bilateral relations with the Russian Federation.
It was expressed satisfaction with the development of inter-parliamentary relations between Tajikistan and Russia, and the sides praised the role of the parliaments of the two countries in the enhancement of cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
It was also pointed out that the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Tajikistan-Russia inter-regional cooperation is considered to be a broad platform for the development of joint cooperation, not only for Parliament, but also for representatives of all regions and business circles of the two countries.
A useful exchange of views took place on strengthening of multifaceted cooperation between the regions of Tajikistan and Russia, the development of bilateral trade and economic relations, improving the work of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Russia on economic cooperation, as well as to further attract investment and business circles of Russia to the extraction and processing of minerals of Tajikistan.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on the development and expansion of relations in the field of culture, education, and labor migration.
The current situation in the region and the world, including the complicated military and political situation in Afghanistan and strengthening the capacity of border troops in Tajikistan, the fight against new threats and challenges, such as terrorism and extremism, have been discussed as well.
