Leader of the Nation receives Deputy Primer Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov
DUSHANBE, 27.12.2016. /NIAT «Khovar»/. Today, at the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon received the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, co-chairman of the Tajik-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, Rustam Azimov.
Head of State Emomali Rahmon once again congratulated the leadership and friendly people of neighboring country – Uzbekistan on the occasion of holding elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the high level, and pointed out that the official visit of the governmental delegation of Uzbekistan to Tajikistan is an important step towards the further expansion and deepening of interstate relations.
Tajikistan welcomes Uzbekistan’s initiative to restore mutual air flights between the two countries – said the Head of state Emomali Rahmon, and highlighted that our country supports further improvement of relations on restoration of railway sections, reduction of rail freight tariffs, restoration of energy exports and imports, expansion of agricultural cooperation, cancellation or simplification of visa regime for the citizens of the two countries, and settlement of border issues.
The two sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two states in the field of economy, trade, transport and communications, water, power, culture, protection of the state border, and offered constructive proposals to address the obstacles to the development of cooperation in these areas.
It was emphasized that the juridical base of bilateral relations between the two countries consists of more than one hundred documents, the practical implementation of which fully meets the interests of both countries.
It was expressed confidence that the Tajik-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation would discuss important issues and would take efficient steps towards further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.
The meeting also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest, including the military-political situation in the region and the world, strengthening the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and other transnational organized crimes.
