Russia, Turkey, Iran coordinate statement on Syria settlement

DUSHANBE, 21.12.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey and Iran have coordinated a joint statement on the political process in Syria, Russia’s top diplomat Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday, TASS reports.
«We have coordinated a joint statement of the foreign ministers of Iran, Russia and Turkey on the measures aimed to boost the political process in order to stop the Syrian conflict,» Lavrov said at a news conference following the trilateral meeting.

Russia, Iran and Turkey are determined to cooperate in combating the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra (terror groups outlawed in Tajikistan), the three countries’ foreign ministers said in a common statement adopted on Tuesday. The common state was read out by Lavrov at a press conference.

«Russia, Iran and Turkey confirm their determination to cooperate in combating the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra, as well as in separating armed opposition groups from terrorists,» Lavrov said.

Russia, Iran and Turkey are prepared to act as safeguards of a future agreement between the Syrian government and the opposition, according to the joint statement.

«Iran, Russia and Turkey express the readiness to promote the drafting of the agreement the Syrian government and the opposition are negotiating at the moment and to act as its guarantors,» Lavrov said.
