Visit to Kandy city of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
DUSHANBE, 15.12.2016. /NIAT «Khovar»/. The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon in the course of his state visit to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka visited the city of Kandy, which is located in the central part of this country, and got familiar with the Temple of Buddha’s Tooth, International Buddhist Museum and Royal Botanical Garden of Peradeniya town.
At first, Head of State Emomali Rahmon visited the Temple of Buddha’s Tooth and got familiar with the example of historical monuments of International Buddhist Museum.
It should be noted that the Temple of Buddha’s Tooth is located in the coast of lake, near the King Palace and is considered an important site for the Buddhists of the planet. There the shrine of Buddha’s Tooth is kept. The Temple of Buddha’s Tooth was included in the UNESCO list of International Historical Heritage in 1988.
The International Buddhist Museum is also one of the parts of historical complex of Temple of Buddha’s Tooth. It displays the example of statues and monuments of Buddhists and projects of Buddhist temples of various countries around the world.
After the visit from the historical sites of the Temple of Buddha’s Tooth, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon made an entry in the book of honorable guests.
Then, Head of State Emomali Rahmon visited the Royal Botanical Garden, which is located in Peradeniya town, got familiar with the way of growing and maintaining of local seedlings and trees, as well as flowers and medicinal herbs.
Peradeniya town is considered one of the most famous tourist sites and every year more than 2 million people visit this town.
Following his visit to the Royal Botanical Garden, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon as a sign of respect and continued friendship between the peoples of Tajikistan and Sri Lanka planted a seedling of evergreen flower in this garden.
