Russia, Turkey, Iran to strengthen mechanism for monitoring ceasefire violations in Syria

DUSHANBE, 16.03.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/. Russia, Turkey and Iran agreed here on Wednesday to strengthen the tripartite mechanism for monitoring the ceasefire violations in Syria, Xinhua news agency reports.

The three countries will also continue to work on the determining the locations of the terrorists.

In a joint statement, Russia, Turkey and Iran reported their exchange of information on the ceasefire violations and their decision to reduce the level of violence through increasing the effectiveness of the tripartite monitoring mechanism.

Head of Russian delegation, Russian President’s special representative for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev said that Russia, Turkey and Iran very carefully and effectively worked on improving the mechanism for monitoring violations, which is an extremely important issue and isn’t not so simple.

«The issue of determination of the locations is very important and discussions on it continue for a long time,» said Lavrentiev at a press briefing in Astana.

Astana-4 peace negotiations is scheduled for May 3-4.
