The Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a telephone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Muhammad Ashraf Ghani.

The heads of the two friendly states, having discussed the current state and prospects of multi-faceted interstate relations between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, emphasized the future coordination of the parties’ ongoing efforts for their further development.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan exchanged their opinions on a number of issues on the regional and international agenda. In this context, the two sides continued their ongoing discussion on alarming situation
in Afghanistan, in particular the situation in its northern regions.

In this regard, the two sides touched upon security and military-technical cooperation, particularly fight against modern threats — terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and
ensuring border security.

It was stressed that the establishment of peace and ensuring security of the peoples of the region is the main goal of the efforts being made in this area. The leaders of the two neighboring states agreed on taking joint effective measures in this direction.

The President of our country, pointing to the importance of stabilizing the situation in neighboring Afghanistan as a factor in ensuring the security of the entire region, stressed the daily monitoring of the situation in this friendly country and the constant readiness of the Tajik side to provide all-round assistance to the state and the brotherly people of Afghanistan in achieving peace and stability by eradicating terrorism, extremism, and ensuring unity and
national harmony.

The President of Afghanistan, expressing his gratitude to Tajikistan for its constant economic and security support to Afghanistan, expressed his special gratitude for the creation of favorable conditions for the treatment of officers and military personnel of Afghanistan in hospitals of Tajikistan.

Concluding conversation, Dr. Ashraf Ghani invited the Founder of Peace and Nation Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon to pay an official visit to Afghanistan at his convenience. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. The terms of the visit are to be agreed upon via diplomatic channels.
Conversation took place in a sincere atmosphere of mutual understanding.
