The Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon received today the head of National Directorate of Security of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Masoom Stanikzai.

At the beginning of the conversation, it was stressed that long-lasting friendship and good-neighborliness make up the basis of interstate relations between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

It was also pointed out that multifaceted cooperation with Afghanistan is among the priorities of Tajikistan’s foreign policy.

The two sides discussed important bilateral issues addressing joint ruthless struggle against international terrorism, extremism, illicit drug trafficking and strengthening interstate border control.

A constructive exchange of views took place on the development of serious and effective measures to strengthen cross-border cooperation, enhancing Border Police capacities, more close cooperation of Border Police in order to ensure national security of neighboring countries as well as strengthening bilateral ties between security bodies.
