In the afternoon of May 10, 2017, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Head of the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation Ramazan Abdulatipov.

The meeting discussed issues of multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia, including the development of inter-regional relations.

Head of the state Emomali Rahmon, highly appreciating the role of Ramazan Abdulatipov in strengthening and developing the strategic partnership of the two countries, called his visit coinciding with the days of celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Russia, a stimulus for the development of good relations in modern times and new spheres.

The parties expressed their interest in developing trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties. It was stressed that Russia as a strategic partner holds a special place in Tajikistan’s foreign trade and its contribution to the trade turnover of our country is about 30%.

At the meeting, the sides discussed the possibilities of Dagestan’s participation in the development of industry, energy, transport and communications, agriculture, attracting companies to operate in free economic zones, as well as mutually beneficial use of minerals in Tajikistan in the interests of both sides.

Promising areas of ties between the two countries were named the strengthening of cooperation in the cultural, humanitarian and educational spheres, the exchange of teachers of Russian language, access to educational materials, as well as tourism and the development of tourism infrastructure.
