Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto
DUSHANBE, 28.06.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/. Today, in the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto.
At the beginning of the meeting the head of state His Excellency Emomali Rahmon stated that the bilateral and multilateral relations with Hungary occupy an important place in the foreign policy of Tajikistan, and cooperation of the two countries has been developing for the last 25 years at the mutually beneficial levels.
Today’s meeting was considered a favorable opportunity to review the current state and prospects of wide-ranging cooperation between Tajikistan and Hungary.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the level of political relations between Tajikistan and Hungary, and voiced their interest in a successful continuation of cooperation within the UN, European Union, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and other international economic and financial organizations.
The parties expressed their desire to strengthen interstate cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, hydropower, innovative technologies, education, healthcare, pharmaceutics and culture, and considered it important to enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation in the future, to set up direct contacts between business circles, to establish the intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, to participate in the implementation of joint projects in the processing of cotton fiber, fruits and vegetables, minerals, precious stones and metals, production of textile goods and construction, as well as strengthening of cooperation in the field of tourism.
The Hungarian side highly assessed the role and leadership of Tajikistan in the use of water resources and global initiatives on addressing water-related issues, and the strengthening of interstate relations between Tajikistan and Hungary within the membership of both countries in the High-Level Panel on Water was emphasized.
The meeting also discussed issues related to ensuring security in Afghanistan, the fight against international terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.
