Overview of the drug situation in Tajikistan for 2016 presented in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 30.06.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/. On 30 June 2017 an event entitled “Overview of drug situation in Tajikistan for 2016” was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan with the participation of representatives of government structures, international organizations, diplomatic missions, as well as foreign and local media.
According to the MFA Information Department, during the event, the Director of the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Sherkhon Salimzoda presented an overview of the drug situation in the country and shared views on the cooperation of the Tajik law enforcement agencies with the relevant international and regional partners, including the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in the sphere of combatting illicit traffic of narcotic drugs.
Further, the Head of the UNODC Regional Office in Central Asia Ms. Ashita Mittal, being on a working visit to Tajikistan, highlighted the activity of the organization and implementation of the Regional Program for Afghanistan and neighboring countries in 2016.
