Tajik citizens to rest for 4 days on holidays
DUSHANBE, 23.06.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. This year in June there are just two holidays in Tajikistan — Eid Ramadan and National Unity Day.
According to the Council of Ulema of Tajikistan, the Eid Ramadan will be celebrated on June 26 in honor of the end of the Holy month of Ramadan. This day is declared holiday in the country. The next day, on June 27, the country will widely celebrate the 20-th anniversary of the National Unity Day, and the main celebrations will be held in Vahdat city.
According to the Federation of independent trade unions of Tajikistan, taking into account two weekends — June 24 and 25 (Saturday and Sunday) and two festive days — June 26 and 27 the citizens of the country will rest 4 days.
According to the calendar schedule June 28 is the official working day.
The Holy month of Ramadan this year in Tajikistan began on May 27 and will end on June 25. In accordance with the traditions of Islam, after the month of fasting, Muslims celebrate the Eid al Fitr. On this day Muslims after paying compulsory charity (zakat al Fitr) and performing the joint prayer (salat al-Eid) visit the graves of the dead, go to each other’s homes, and cover a festive dastarkhan.
On June 27, there will be celebrated one of the most important public holidays in Tajikistan — the 20th anniversary of the National Unity Day. In 1997, on that day in Moscow, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the leader of the United Tajik Opposition Said Abdullo Nuri, in the presence of the first President of the Russian Federation Boris Yeltsin has signed the General Agreement on Establishing Peace and National Accord in Tajikistan. The agreement put an end to the civil war, which claimed the lives of more than a hundred thousand people.
In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On holidays” dated May 22, 1998 and article 83 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Tajikistan and in accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan June 27 was declared National Unity Day, holiday and day off.
