Meeting with President of the Republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma
DUSHANBE, 05.09.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/. The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Emomali Rahmon had a meeting with President of the Republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma on the sidelines of the Dialogue of the Emerging Markets and Developing Countries on the margins of the 9th BRICS Summit in Xiamen.
President Emomali Rahmon pointed out that Tajikistan firmly supports the strengthening of friendly relations and constructive cooperation with the Republic of South Africa, which has a high reputation in the African continent and in the international arena, and highlighted that Tajikistan welcomes the presence of economic and investment circles of South Africa in various sectors of national economy.
Today’s Dialogue of the Emerging Markets and Developing Countries and BRICS member nations was assessed as a major opportunity to consider and find new ways and methods to boost the regional and international integration.
The Tajik side acknowledged its interest in bolstering beneficial cooperation with the Republic of South Africa in the spheres of economy, trade, industry, agriculture, tourism, culture and the humanitarian sphere.
On this basis the Tajik side has proposed that the delegation of representatives of economic, investment and manufacturing circles of the Republic of South Africa visits Tajikistan at its convenience in order to expand interstate cooperation in these areas.
The two sides also exchanged views on the issues of countering international terrorism and extremism, other modern threats and challenges.
