President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon attended the Informal meeting of CIS heads of state
DUSHANBE, 26.12.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon attended an informal meeting of CIS heads of state in Moscow.
The discussion dealt on the present international and regional situation and the participants exchanged views on the further development of cooperation within the framework of Commonwealth.
In his delivered remarks, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan noted alarming security threats facing the world in 2017 and drew attention of his CIS counterparts to the latest developments in Afghanistan, which is one of the main themes of international and regional agendas.
It was also noted that Tajikistan comes out for further strengthening of cooperation in addressing global threats and challenges for the purpose of providing regional security.
Tajikistan will assume the rotating Commonwealth chairmanship on January 1, 2018. In this contest, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon outlined issues related to providing security of the external borders of the CIS, including its southern borders, successive implementation of programs and a plan aiming to promote further expansion of economic and humanitarian cooperation between the CIS member states as priorities of Tajikistan’s rotating chairmanship in the CIS.
The President of the Republic of Tajikistan expressed his confidence that in the coming year the cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth will develop constructively and wished to his counterparts well-being and new successes in implementing their plans.
