President Emomali Rahmon received Minister of State for External Affairs of India Mubashir Javed Akbar
On the sidelines of the High-level International Conference on “Countering Terrorism and Preventing Violent Extremism” the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of State for External Affairs of India Mubashir Javed Akbar.
President of the country Emomali Rahmon emphasized that current state of the Tajik-Indian cooperation in all areas being of mutual interest is developing positively and we are interested in further expansion of multilateral relationships with friendly India.
Realization of concrete joint projects and programs in the spheres of agriculture, energy, industry, science and technology, tourism, healthcare, transportation, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres were called among the priority areas of bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, it was stressed that Tajikistan is making efforts to implement its fundamental national and regional plans, especially in the areas of energy, transportation, construction of railways and highways, power plants, and the creation of frontier markets.
The two sides stated that the creation of joint ventures for the production of domestic products, including salt, sugar, juices, processing of vegetables and fruits, various minerals and pharmaceuticals would facilitate the trade and economic growth of the two nations.
Cooperation in the spheres of science, education, culture, tourism and cinematography was called among other broad opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
The talks also included a substantive exchange of views on Tajik – Indian position in resolving urgent issues in addressing challenges and threats facing the modern world — countering transnational organized crime, illicit drug trafficking and preventing terrorism, promoting regional security, resolving issues concerning Afghanistan and other issues being of mutual interest.
