200 chefs gathered in Dushanbe for the festival-contest Oshi Palav
DUSHANBE, 10.11.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Festival-contest Oshi Palav is currently being held in the capital’s Abulqosim Firdavsi Culture and Recreation Park.
As the NIAT “Khovar” correspondent Shukuhi Daler reports, a lot of people gathered in the park from early morning and continue to arrive. This is really a mass event. The guests with passion watching the actions of chefs, who are enthusiastically preparing and seeking to win.
According to a resident of Dushanbe city Bunafsha Saidova, who came to the festival with the whole family, this is a really interesting event. “It is a pity that such events have not been held before. I like to watch the actions of chefs. Palav (pilaf) is one of our main national dishes. It is gratifying that today this dish has received due attention”, — the interlocutor shared her impressions.
“Over 200 chefs from all regions of Tajikistan are already cooking Oshi Palav, and soon each of them will present their dish to the strict but fair jury”, — NIAT “Khovar” correspondent reports.
Around experienced chefs are many products intended for the preparation of real Tajik palav.
Following the festival, the best masters of arts of Tajikistan will perform a concert program for all participants.
This is not the first festival, it was previously held in Sughd and Khatlon provinces of our republic.
It should be noted that the aim of the festival is to familiarize with hospitality of Tajiks, to promote culinary art, protect national values and respect for the cultural heritage of the Tajik people in the framework of the Year of Tourism and Folk Crafts Development in Tajikistan.
Oshi Palav, a traditional meal in Tajikistan, has been inscribed in 2016 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
