DUSHANBE, 02.11.2018 /NIAT «Khovar»/. In the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received a group of deputies of the State Duma led by leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who is in Tajikistan on a working visit.

The agenda included current issues pertaining to bilateral cooperation, in particular, strengthening Tajikistan — Russia inter-parliamentary ties.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the level of trade and economic, energy, and military-technical, scientific and cultural ties from among the cooperation areas between the two countries within the framework of strategic partnership; it was noted that mutually beneficial inter-parliamentary ties will promote common interests between the two countries.

Vladimir Zhirinovsky highly appreciated the concrete efforts of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on expanding of bilateral relationships between Tajikistan and Russia and added that “You are a far-sighted politician, the people’s President and the Founder of a new Tajik statehood. In a difficult situation for the Tajik state and nation, you, dear President, saved Tajik people from annihilation and Tajik nation from dissolution.»

The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) stressed that “We sincerely respect you and recognize you as a wise politician”.

The meeting stated that the parliamentary delegations of Russia and Tajikistan are implementing sustainable and active cooperation within the framework of various international organizations, including inter-parliamentary union, the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS), the Eurasian Economic Community and the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

It was noted that the Tajikistan — Russia Inter-parliamentary Cooperation Committee coordinates the work of committees and ensures the smooth cooperation between the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

The two sides expressed satisfaction over the progress made in ongoing fields, such as science and education, including providing Tajikistan educational institutions with Russian-speaking teachers from the Russian Federation, and training of specialists in Russian higher education institutions and their branches in Dushanbe.

Other issues being of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
