Kamoli Khujandi’s Ghazals Translated into German
DUSHANBE, 13.12.2018. (NIAT Khovar) – A collection of ghazals, a form of amatory poems, by Kamoli Khujandi titled “Heavenly Love” was published in German for the first time.
The collection was translated by a German professor Alexander Heiser and was published by the Nosir publishing house in the city of Khujand.
The book contains the translation of poems in both Tajik and German.
Khujandi is one of the great romantic poets of the 14th century, like his contemporary Hafez. He was born in 1321 in Khujand, today the capital of the Sughd province in Tajikistan. He lived and died in 1400BC in Tabriz, Iran.
About 7,000 of his approximately 14,000 verses have survived.
