Severe and Hazardous Weather Expected in Different Regions of the Country
DUSHANBE, 17.01.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Hydrometeorology Agency of Tajikistan is warning the public of hazardous weather. The agency issued a warning for snowdrifts and avalanches.
An avalance warning for the southern slopes of the Hissor range (Varzob and Anzob), the mountainous regions of the districts of republican subordination and the western areas of GBAO (Darvoz, Khorog, Khorog, Murghob, Khorog, Ishkoshim) is set to take effect today and last until Sunday, January 20, reports the Hydrometeorology Agency.
“While passing avalanche areas on mountain roads it is necessary to keep a distance of 500 meters between vehicles. Packed snow, sleet and snowdrifts remain on the highways. Fog is also expected on mountain passes. Extremely caution is advised,” notes the warning.
On January 20, unstable weather conditions along with heavy snow are expected throughout the country, except for eastern GBAO regions.
