Kazakh FM Atamkulov: Kazakhstan and Tajikistan Will Increase Trade Turnover to $1 Billion
DUSHANBE, 18.05.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Summing up the meeting with the President of Tajikistan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov said that they discussed issues relating to bilateral and regional cooperation.
“We noted the importance of deepening our bilateral trade and economic cooperation and in these areas there is great potential,” added Atamkulov.
“In 2018, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan amounted to more than $840 million, and this year we plan to increase this figure to $1 billion,” he noted.
“The foreign ministries of the two countries established good work on issues of international and regional cooperation. A close contact has also been established between the ministries and departments of the two countries in transport, logistics, cultural, humanitarian and other areas of mutual interest,” said Atamkulov.
“I would especially like to note the fraternal relations with Tajikistan,” he concluded.
Atamkulov arrived in Tajikistan to attend the seventh Ministerial Meeting of the Central Asia Plus Japan Dialogue, which is being held today in Dushanbe.
