President Emomali Rahmon Met with Representatives of Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, 24.10.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the representatives of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Tajikistan. The meeting took place in the Kokhi Borbad.
The agenda of the meeting included the current status and new ways of further improving cooperation between the government and the Federation of Independent Trade Unions.
President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that Tajikistan has been a full-fledged member of the International Labor Organization since 1993 and has since accepted 51 conventions and 22 recommendations of this organization. All of these regulatory documents relate to increasing the social protection of the population and decreasing the unemployment rate.
Since independence the social protection of the population has always been in the spotlight of Tajikistan’s government, and its economic and structural reforms have been carried out to gradually improve the situation.
Since the implementation of the National Sustainable Economic Development and Public Financial Management Reform, the state budget revenues have increased fourfold from 6 billion somoni in 2009 to 33.8 billion somoni in 2019.
On the path toward the achievement of national goals, state structures and trade unions are the most influential forces of our civil society that are responsible for participating in public administration, educating staff, solving daily life problems and ensuring social justice, creating a positive work environment to employees in the national economy and therefore they must take the necessary measures to fulfill their tasks and statutory powers and duties.
In this context, trade unions as a mass organization are responsible for carrying out their mission to protect the achievements of state independence, strengthening peace and stability throughout the country, enforcing national unity, protecting the socio-economic interests of Tajiks and increasing the standards of living of the nation.
President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that trade unions also need to enforce amd faciliate in the observance of labor socio-economic rights, health and safety measures, and sanitary and hygienic practices at enterprises and institutions, regardless of ownership.
In closing President Emomali Rahmon voiced his hope that the leaders, activists and members of independent trade unions of Tajikistan will continue to serve faithfully serve the glorious people of our beloved Motherland — Tajikistan.
