DUSHANBE, 30.10.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev.

President Emomali Rahmon stressed that ensuring security and stability is one of Tajik — Russian priority areas and collaboration in this area is developing dynamically.

The officials expressed confidence that only through further coordinated and joint effort significant results in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and other forms of transnational organized crime and other threats can be achieved.

It was stressed that collective measures should be taken toward expanding collaboration in combating threats and challenges of the modern world, to solve regional security problems, to strengthen the defense capacity of the border forces of Tajikistan with regards to the threat posed by Afghanistan. In this regard, the cooperation and integration of the security councils of both countries was considered necessary.

During the fruitful meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

They officials also touched upon issues related to the development of military and military-technical cooperation and strengthening ties between law enforcement agencies.
