Deputy FM Huseinzoda Meets With His Afghan Counterpart and UNODC Representative
DUSHANBE, 17.12.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday on the sidelines of the 9th Meeting of the Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian countries and Afghanistan, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Muzaffar Huseinzoda met his afghan counterpart Ms. Naheed Esar.
The parties exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan within the international and regional organizations, reports the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Both parties expressed hope for strengthening and developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan in political, socio-economic and humanitarian-cultural spheres.
Also, Huseinzoda met with the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Central Asia Ms. Ashita Mittal.
The parties expressed their satisfaction on the positive development of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNODC and underscored the need to strengthen cooperation in the fight against the challenges related to the illegal drug trafficking.
The parties also discussed the issue of technical support of UNODC to the law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan for the effective fight against drug trafficking.
