Foreign Minister Muhriddin Attends Green Central Asia Conference in Berlin
DUSHANBE, 29.01.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin took part in the International Conference Green Central Asia, which opened in Berlin, Germany.
Along with Muhriddin other Central Asian foreign minister along with those from Afghanistan, Germany, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and other representatives of EU countries also attended the conference.
Speaking at the conference, Muhriddin called upon the international community to strengthen cooperation on climate change and alleviate its consequent impact on flora and fauna. He also focused on President Emomali Rahmon’s initiative regarding the creation of an international fund for preservation of glaciers with the aim of helping countries affected by climate change.
Muhriddin also noted the importance of rational consumption of water in the region and drew the attention of participants to the global water initiatives of the Tajikistan, which also seeks the promotion and implementation of the water related Sustainable Development Goals.
Following the conference, the counterparts signed a joint declaration on cooperation in the field of climate change and security.
