President Emomali Rahmon Attends the First Session of the Sixth Convocation of the Assembly of Representatives
DUSHANBE, 17.03.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon took part in the first session of the sixth convocation of the Assembly of Representatives.
According to the article 53 of the Tajikistan’s Constitution and paragraph 23 of the Regulations of the Assembly of Representatives, the Chairman of the Assembly of Representatives is elected from among its members by secret ballot.
Before the address of the President in the session, Zokirzoda Mahmadtohir has been elected as chairman of the Assembly of Representatives by a majority vote of all deputies.
By the newly-elected Chairman’s proposal, Vatanzoda Mahmadali was elected as first deputy Chairman, Mansuri Dilrabo and Kodiri Kosim have been elected as deputies Chairman of the Assembly of Representatives.
In his delivered address the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon congratulated the newly elected deputies of the sixth convocation to this high and responsible position.
The Head of State expressed his confidence that the deputies will serve the interests of state and its people and will make their valuable contribution to strengthening the unity, stability and prosperity of the country.
He also added that the law has to be adopted with the purpose of development of all spheres of society, ensuring social justice, unity, stability, progress and comprehensive regulation of public relations, reflecting the interests and needs of the people, stimulating the further development of the society.
Therefore, it is necessary for the deputies, regardless of their party affiliation, to make every effort to increase legal literacy of the population taking into account our supreme national interests and goals, to direct all their knowledge and experience.
Due to the political and financial crisis and geopolitical confrontations, the head of state stressed that in order to prevent and reduce such threats we must intensify our activities and always be with the people.
The head of state drew the attention of the deputies to the Government’s activities in achieving strategic goals, including achieving energy independence, food security and rapid industrialization of the country as well as implementation of the “National Development Strategy for the period until 2030”.
However, he expressed full confidence that the deputies would fruitfully carry out their tasks with a high sense of patriotism and awareness of responsibility will make efforts for the sake of further promotion of Tajikistan, the country’s socio-economic development, the rule of law and the protection of human rights and freedoms.
President Emomali Rahmon in particular, noted that 15 of the total number of deputies are women, 32 scientists from various fields were elected to the Parliament, 4 of them are corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences, 13 are doctors of sciences, 15 are candidates of sciences.
Of this number, 1 corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences, 5 doctors of science and 3 candidates of science are women.
Scientists, lawyers, economists, industrialists and workers in the fields of science and education, health care, agriculture, representatives of other professions, each of which is an authoritative and influential person in society, are elected to the new Parliament.
“The participation of these persons in the activities of the Assembly of Representatives in the future should give a serious impetus to the development of legislation in the country and contribute to the advancement of society”, emphasized the President.
