DUSHANBE, 09.04.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Head of our state expressed sincere gratitude for the steps taken by Uzbekistan for humanitarian assistance provided to Tajikistan in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.

President of Tajikistan noted that the friendly assistance provided to Tajikistan with food products and medical supplies, which were in great demand in the current difficult time for all of us, is another manifestation of the long traditions of mutual support that bind our peoples. The peoples of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as two close neighbors have extended helping hands to each other over centuries.

The two presidents touched upon the consistent development of Tajik-Uzbek cooperation in the format of strategic partnership.

While speaking about global economic crisis and the alarming trends of a new recession, the parties informed about the situation in the two countries against the global outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.

It was also emphasized the further coordination of regional efforts to prevent the strong adverse impact of the pandemic on regional countries. In this regard, a mutual expression of readiness was noted for joint actions with all countries of the region to overcome the crisis.
