SCO Secretary-General Norov Holds Press Conference on SCO Day
DUSHANBE, 13.06.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the SCO Secretary-General Vladimir Norov held a press conference on the forthcoming SCO Day, reports the Tajik Embassy in China.
Norov gave a detailed account of the organizations’ activities since the 19th meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council.
Additionally, he talked about the ongoing work under the Russian SCO Presidency and preparations for the St. Petersburg SCO summit.
The Secretary-General replied to over 20 questions from the media regarding the SCO’s role and place in the international relations system, SCO’s position on the China’s Special Administrative District — Hong Kong, its actions on mitigating the socio-economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, and steps to increase cooperation in the economy, healthcare, and other areas.
Norov presented letters of acknowledgement to the head of the TASS Beijing bureau, President of the SCO Press Club Andrei Kirillov and head of the Department of External Communications of the Renminwang site Liu Hui for their contributions to enhancing the positive image of the SCO and active interaction with the SCO Secretariat in promoting the organization’s creative agenda in the media.
Permanent representatives of the SCO member states to the SCO Secretariat, diplomats from the SCO countries, SCO Press Club members — journalists from the news agencies and periodicals, Xinhua, TASS, Renmin Ribao, Kazinform, RIA Novosti, Sputnik news agency, Khabar 24, CCTV and CGTN TV channels, China Radio International, and the China magazine attended the press conference.
Journalists from the Kabar state agency of Kyrgyzstan, Dunyo information agency of Uzbekistan, Khovar and Asia Plus of Tajikistan and representatives of the SCO Youth Platform — SCOLAR took part in the event via video conference.
