FM Muhriddin Attends Video Conference in C5 + 1 Format
DUSHANBE, 01.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin attended a high-level video conference in C5 + 1 format with the participation of Central Asian foreign ministers and the US Secretary of State.
The officials discussed issues relating to the fight against COVID-19, its consequences in the sphere of health and economy, the efforts of countries to eliminate it, as well as the expansion of regional cooperation and regional security.
Muhriddin emphasized the importance of the steps taken by the government to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the role of regional cooperation and the assistance of partners in this process, and suggested taking measures to prevent the next wave while gradually weakening quarantine measures.
“Economic and environmental working groups of the C5 + 1 format can also play an important role in overcoming the problems of the respective sectors,” Muhriddin stated.
The US officials proposed to direct its potential for the economic development of the Central Asian region and the expansion of trade.
Participants emphasized the need for greater economic and trade integration and called for increased cooperation to enhance security in the region.
