Tajikistan Celebrates Eid al-Adha on July 31

DUSHANBE, 22.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Eid al-Adha or Eid Qurban will be celebrated on July 31. This was stated by the Chairman of the Council of Ulema Saidmukarram Abdukodirzoda at a press conference of the Committee for Religion, Regulation of Traditions, Celebrations and Ceremonies.
“Since the threat of the COVID-19 spread has not been eliminated, the mosques are currently closed. Such cases are provided for in the Shariah, when believers can pray at home,” he said.
He explained that the Islamic Center, mosques and religious leaders refrain from conducting festive prayers in order to protect people’s health.
In accordance with the sanitary requirements determined by the Republican COVID-19 Prevention Commission, as well as the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population, forming crowds are prohibited.
