CCER Members Meet with Chamber of Accounts Staff

DUSHANBE, 31.08.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Representatives of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) of Tajikistan held a meeting with the staff of the Chamber of Accounts.
While speaking about the procedure for holding the presidential election, CCER member Makhfirat Khidirzoda said that in accordance with the law, the president will be elected by citizens on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot.
A person can be nominated as a presidential candidate only if he or she is a Tajik citizen, at least 30-year-old, with a higher education degree, fluent in Tajik, and living in the country for at least the last 10 years. Openness and transparency are one of the main principles of elections.
“The presidential election will be held on October 11, and 68 constituencies have been established across the country and 39 in 29 countries,” said Khidirzoda.
The meeting also focused on the issues relating to the legal security of voters, especially people with disabilities, and labor migrants living abroad.
