President Emomali Rahmon Held a Telephone Conversation with His Afghan Counterpart

DUSHANBE, 21.08.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
Emomali Rahmon and Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani thoroughly discussed issues of Tajikistan — Afghanistan bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.
The two sides exchanged views on the important areas of economy, trade, energy, roads, transportation, science, education, information and culture. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to further expand cooperation in these areas.
There was also discussion of the active participation of both countries in the implementation of small and large scale regional projects, including CASA-1000.
There was an exchange of opinions on a number of key security matters, including strengthening the capacity of the state border, countering terrorism and violent extremism, countering transnational organized crime, and illicit drug trafficking.
During the telephone conversation the heads of both states agreed to the visit of a government working group from Afghanistan to Tajikistan to expand multifaceted interstate cooperation.
President Rahmon offered his best wishes to the people of the friendly and neighboring country and wished peace, prosperity, progress, and well-being.
In his turn, President Ghani wished the proud Tajik people new success and new achievements.
