CCER Representatives Exchanged Views with International Observers on the Presidential Election

DUSHANBE, 29.09.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda received a delegation of international observers from the Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR) led by Ivilina Aleksieva-Robinson, who arrived in Tajikistan.
Khudoyorzoda informed the delegation about the open activities of the Commission for the preparations and conduct of presidential elections.
It was noted that for a transparent and democratic election process, the commission has carried out certain work on the issues relating to activating the electorate, promoting information and advisory work, using new information platforms in this process, interacting with civil society, and significantly attracting women to election commissions, volunteers, compliance with measures related to preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic on election day, preparation of election commissions for elections and other issues relating to the upcoming presidential election.
The parties also exchanged views on other issues relating to the country’s electoral legislation, the electoral system, the tasks of election commissions, the role of international and national observers in the electoral process.
The OSCE/ODIHR international observers began their activities to observe the process of the preparations for the presidential election.
The election will be held on October 11.
