President Emomali Rahmon Attends Mehrgon Holiday in Sughd

DUSHANBE, 17.10.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – Concluding his visit to Sughd, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon toured the newly built Bui Bahor greenhouse at the Bobojon Ghafurov district and visited the chrysanthemum and coleus flower exhibition.

Bui Bahor farmer cultivated 5,000 chrysanthemum varieties and intends to increase their production.

Bui Bahor also has eight greenhouses for growing cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, strawberries, garlic and other types of agricultural products.
President Rahmon also laid a foundation stone for building of the MMK-Agro Greenhouse.

MMK-Agro will build modern greenhouses in three stages, which will also help to provide the population with fresh domestic products in the winter season.

Next he inspected the persimmon harvesting campaign at the branch of the Institute of Horticulture of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences experimental plot, and took part in the Exhibition of Persimmons.
While visiting the National Vahdat Garden in the Bobojon Ghafurov district he toured the exhibition featuring agricultural products and attended in festivities dedicated to Mehrgon holiday.

Eighteen cities and districts of Sughd Province organized their corners in the exhibition and demonstrated their agricultural commodities.
According to statistics, the total volume of agricultural production in the province as of October 1 has amounted to 7.4 billion somoni. This is an increase of 1.7% compared to the same period last year.

The grain yield has reached 287,000 tonnes, potatoes 344,000 tonnes vegetables 431,000 tonnes, melons 138,000 tonnes in the province and the production of fruits, honey, meat and milk, poultry eggs and fish has likewise increased.

Today, there are 70,000 hectares of gardens in Sughd Province, which were implemented within the framework of the Development Program of Gardening and Wine Growing for 2016 – 2020.

Mehrgon holoday, along with Navruz and Sada, is one of the ancient Tajik holidays of friendship, affection and love, embodying the blessings of the work of farmers and today are recognized as harvest festivals.
