DUSHANBE, 10.10.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Speaker of the National Assemnly of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali received international observers of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly mission headed by the Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Government and Northern Affairs, Oleg Melnichenko, who is in Dushanbe to monitor the presidential election. 

Subjects discussed at the meeting included further cooperation between the National Assembly and the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The parties expressed their confidence that the participation of observers of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the 2020 Tajikistan presidential election will undoubtedly contribute to ensuring the principle of openness and transparency.

The process of monitoring of international elections in the CIS member nations is carried out in accordance with the Convention on Election Standards, Electoral Rights and Freedoms, which the Republic of Tajikistan has joined in 2003.
