Tajik FM Sorojiddin Muhriddin Attends 2nd India-Central Asia Dialogue; Afghanistan Also Joins In

DUSHANBE, 29.10.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – On 28 October by the initiative of India the 2nd Central Asia-India Dialogue was held in digital video-conference format. At the meeting minsters of foreign affairs of member states and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan were in attendance.
The sides discussed strengthening cooperation between India and Central Asian countries in political and security spheres, promoting connectivity and developing partnership in the region, as well as deepening of the Trade Economic Cooperation.
In his statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojidin Muhriddin noted the importance of cooperation with India, and the Dialogue as an important tool for development and strengthening cooperation among member states.
The officials emphasized the importance of connecting roads to increase regional trade and developing the transit and transport potential of the region.
Foreign Minister Muhriddin touched upon the issues of regional cooperation, implementation of the projects in the energy sphere, industrial and agricultural sectors, and the importance of expanding export opportunities and free movement of goods.
Peace in Afghanistan was also discussed, and the participation of Afghanistan in the Dialogue as a transit state which plays an important role in connecting countries and expanding regional cooperation in the field of transportation of goods and energy was welcomed.
In the end of the meeting, a joint sratement on the outcome of the 2nd India-Central Asia Dialogue was adopted.
