Tajikistan Participates in Central Asia — EU Political and Security Dialogue

DUSHANBE, 21.10.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Muzaffar Huseinzoda attended the high-level Political and Security Dialogue between Central Asia and European Union via videoconference.
The Deputy Foreign Ministers of Central Asia, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid were also in attendance.
The parties discussed cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the elimination of its consequences, and exchanged opinions on security challenges in the region, including common actions for solving current problems. Delegations also considered effects of climate change and environmental issues.
In his speech Huseinzoda noted the timely measures taken by the government to eliminate negative consequences of COVID-19 and provide security measures, and noted the international initiatives of Tajikistan in the field of water resources. He also stressed that Tajikistan, as a co-Chair of the Heart of Asia — Istanbul Process, will put every effort during this period to increase the practical effectiveness of this framework.
