President Emomali Rahmon Invites Qatari Emir to Pay State Visit

DUSHANBE, 18.11.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – The current state and prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar was among the topics discussed via phone by the Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.
“Tajikistan values cooperation between the parties, which is based on common interests,” noted President Rahmon.
The parties also stressed that there were still untapped resources in various key sectors, such as trade and investment, tourism, industry, agriculture and energy resources, which could drive the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Qatar.
The two officials touched upon certain issues of bilateral cooperation within the framework of various international organizations.
While discussing the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic it was noted that Tajikistan is no exception in the current situation and is making every effort to prevent its consequences, including in cooperation with the international community.
President Rahmon noted his appreciation of Qatar’s cooperation in combating this infectious disease.
In closing he invited the Amir of the State of Qatar to pay a state visit to Tajikistan, which was accepted.
