FM Muhriddin Takes Part in CSTO Ministerial Meeting

DUSHANBE, 02.12.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin took part in a meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) via video conference. The officials exchanged views on the main trends in the development of international and regional security, as well as on CSTO activities.
In his speech, Muhriddin shared the vision of Tajikistan on topical issues of cooperation in the priority areas of the current agenda of the organization. It was noted that the long-term socio-economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic could also pose a security threat.
Muhriddin paid particular attention to the issues of countering terrorism, extremism and transnational crime in the CSTO space. In this context, he noted the problems of Afghanistan and the emerging situation in the Tajik-Afghan border area.
Muhriddin also briefly presented the main priority areas of the upcoming chairmanship of Tajikistan in the CSTO in the political and international fields.
