Special Edition of ECO Chronicle Dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence

DUSHANBE, 19.02.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Embassy of Tajikistan in Tehran in collaboration with the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) has published a special issue of the ECO Chronicle in English on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence.
The magazine begins with the special message of President Emomali Rahmon titled Tajikistan and the Economic Cooperation Organization, which contains constructive recommendations for achieving the goals of the ECO.
“It is our common task to explore approaches and methods of effective cooperation meeting the interests and desires of our people and ensuring their enforcement within the Economic Cooperation Organization. In our view, it is important to strengthen the unifying and creative role the Economic Cooperation Organization plays by updating and improving this institution’s agenda. Our renewed organization should be strong and practical, with the ability to react immediately and appropriately to socio-economic phenomena and processes in its region of operation.
Tajikistan was and will remain dedicated to the Economic Cooperation Organization’s approaches and objectives, and stands ready to upgrade and improve its level and quality of engagement within the organization’s activities,” the magazine writes.
The next article of the magazine is dedicated to the swearing-in ceremony of Emomali Rahmon as the President of Tajikistan on October 30, 2020, and his program speech is considered as a program of new achievements of Tajikistan for the next seven years.
The article of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin titled Economic Cooperation Organization: Challenges and Opportunities highlights the role of the ECO in strengthening regional cooperation, the organization’s objectives in promoting regional cooperation and creating a collective tool to counter common threats and challenges, like COVID-19.
The results of the ECO Secretary General’s meetings with President Rahmon, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Economic Development and Trade in Tajikistan in 2020 are also reflected in separate pages of the magazine. Most of the magazine is devoted to the promotion of the great achievements of Tajikistan during the 30 years of independence.
In this regard, articles titled Tajikistan’s Contemporary Economy and Cooperation with the ECO, Nawruz in Tajikistan, Dushanbe — the city of Friendship and Peace, Energy Sector in Tajikistan and Prospects for further Development, Development of Tourism in Tajikistan, Intensive Industrialization in Tajikistan as a Fourth National Strategic Goal, Republic of Tajikistan — Key Statistics and Economic Indicators published in the magazine, reflect the great economic and social changes in independent Tajikistan.
Articles titled Dushanbe hosts the 14th Meeting of the Heads of Railway Authorities and Tajikistan hosted the 3rd ECO Ministerial Meeting on Tourism aim to reflect Tajikistan’s role in the activities of this regional organization. At the end of the magazine there is an interview of the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the ECO Nizomiddin Zohidi on the history and prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and the organization as a phenomenon of the period of independence of Tajikistan.
