After Facebook, Google Becomes Another Taxpayer in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 04.03.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the online giant Google registered with the Tax Committee of Tajikistan as a taxpayer for electronic services provided by foreign companies.
The law, according to which foreign persons providing electronic services must pay VAT to the budget of Tajikistan, was adopted on December 17 last year. It applies to foreign services that sell digital content to individuals in Tajikistan.
According to the law, foreign companies are required to register with the tax authorities no later than 20 calendar days from the date of commencement of the provision of electronic services. Subsequently, the VAT declaration is submitted to the tax authorities through the taxpayer’s personal account, which is available in English.
The Tax Committee also notes that in addition to such large companies as Google and Facebook, foreign entities such as Doodle inc, Novatech IT ltd and Xsolla have already been registered.
