DUSHANBE, 01.04.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process, President Emomali Rahmon received the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
President Rahmon noted Tajikistan’s interest in making effective use of opportunities to further strengthen and expand cooperation.
The parties noted that cooperation between the countries is based on a large package of documents that cover economy, trade, promotion and mutual protection of investments, information, culture, education, health care, tourism, aviation, and security collaboration.
The two sides noted the need to intensify activities of the Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, Joint Business Council and Joint Working Groups on Oil and Gas, Energy and Infrastructure.
During the discussion of security cooperation, they noted that Tajikistan and Pakistan are partners in the fight against global threats such as terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and other forms of transnational organized crime.
The implementation of the CASA-1000 project was also touched upon.
