DUSHANBE, 29.03.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, who is in Tajikistan to take part in the 9th Ministerial Conference of the Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process.

The current state and prospects of bilateral Tajikistan-Azerbaijani relations were discussed with a focus on political, transportation and communications, industry, agriculture and educational cooperation.

During the meeting the two sides noted with satisfaction significant increase of trade turnover between the two nations that is activities of Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation testify to this fact. The implementation of a number of joint projects in the field of agricultural and creating industrial cooperatives was mentioned as of vital importance.

The further expansion of Tajik-Azeri cooperation in the field of light industry, in particular production of aluminum, exploration and processing of hydrocarbon Tajikistan resources was noted as essential.

The Issues of cooperation in the field of transport and communications as well as cargo transportation were also touched upon.

While expressing satisfaction over the development of cooperation in cultural and humanitarian spheres, including the training of Tajik professionals and the allocation of scholarships in universities of Azerbaijan, it was proposed to hold the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Tajikistan.

In connection with the growing of threats and challenges facing the world, the security collaboration was considered necessary.

Other issues being of mutual interest were also discussed during the talks.

Bayramov is in Tajikistan to take part in the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process meeting.
