DUSHANBE, 29.03.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu who is in Tajikistan to take part in the 9th Ministerial Conference Heart of Asia — Istanbul Process.
A wide range of issues related to Tajik-Turkish cooperation were discussed with a focus of political, economic, trade and investment spheres, energy, industry, agriculture, transport, tourism, science, education and health care.
The officials noted the stepping up of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and the holding of business forums and exhibition of manufactured goods as an important tool for strengthening and expanding cooperation.
Cooperation in the fields of science, education, culture and other social spheres are an important aspect of Tajik-Turkish relations. In this regard, the parties expressed satisfaction with the activities of the Turkish International Cooperation Agency.
Special attention was paid to further cooperation in the area of health care, the import of modern medical equipment and countering the consequences of the pandemic.
While discussing security matters, they touched upon the enhancement of cooperation in the field of security and combating the threats of terrorism, extremism, illicit drug trafficking and other forms of transnational organized crime.
