Representatives Assembly Speaker Attends CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Council Meeting

DUSHANBE, 16.04.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, Representatives Assembly Speaker Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda attended the meeting of the Interparliamentary Assembly Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The meeting was headed by the Assembly Chairperson serving concurrently as the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly Valentina Matvienko.
Members approved the agenda, and adopted all the issues specified in it.
Zokirzoda noted that today the Assembly has become an influential and effective international organization that makes a significant contribution in ensuring and strengthening the legal framework for the development of integration processes within the CIS.
According to him, only joint efforts will make it possible to adequately respond to existing and new challenges.
He confirmed the interest and readiness of the Representatives Assembly to further develop and strengthen the partnership and cooperation between the Commonwealth states.
“We consider the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly as an important platform for facilitating the process of convergence and harmonization of the national legislations of the parties. The results of joint work will become a factor in strengthening additional dynamism in the activities of our Council,” Zokirzoda said.
He also attended the work of the international parliamentary conferences Global Challenges and Threats in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic, as well as Terrorism and Violent Extremism via videoconference.
