Tajikistan and the EBRD Sign an Agreement on the Provision of a Financing Guarantee for the Project Providing Heat in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 15.04.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed an agreement on the provision of a guarantee for financing the project Providing Heat in Dushanbe worth of $11.1 million.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance Fayziddin Kahhorzoda and by the head of the EBRD Representative Office in Tajikistan Ayten Rustamova. As part of its implementation, work is planned on the reconstruction and modernization of medium and low voltage power grids, the installation of electronic meters and other related equipment, as well as the construction and restoration of 110 kV power plants.
The project will begin in the second half of 2021 and will be completed in 2025.
Its aim now is to determine the actual level of power loss of transported heat energy on the scale of Dushanbe, reduce the production cost of heat energy and the number of accidents in the networks, and increase its profitability.
