Commissioner for Human Rights Attends Eurasian Alliance of Ombudsmen Meeting

DUSHANBE, 25.06.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Tajikistan Umed Bobozoda took part in the fifth meeting of the Eurasian Alliance of Ombudsmen in Moscow.
Bobozoda reported on the legal protection of persons with disabilities in Tajikistan, in which he presented detailed information on the achievements of Tajikistan in this area, in particular, on the signing by President Emomali Rahmon of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the adoption of important strategic documents in this area, the role of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Tajikistan in protecting the rights of persons with disabilities, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The participants discussed the exchange of best practices on topical issues of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities.
The offline and online meeting was attended by the Ombudsmen of the Alliance member states like Russia, Serbia, Iran, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and Tajikistan, as well as representatives of various countries of the Eurasian space, international organizations and civil society.
This was followed by a discussion of the topic. An exchange of experience also took place between the participants of the Alliance. Following the results of the meeting, an appropriate decision was made.
The next meeting of the Alliance will be held in October this year in Moscow.
