DUSHANBE, 21.03.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – “Over millennia, Navruz has become a valuable part of our national culture and an integral element of our identity and pride,” President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan said in a message marking the holiday.
Rahmon said the traditions of Navruz are increasingly recognized as a factor promoting peace, stability and coexistence among different cultures and civilizations.
“The equinox occurs twice a year. Navruz, as a natural phenomenon, symbolizes the spring renewal of nature and all living things — a sign of new life,” he said. “For this reason, our wise ancestors designated this day, the period of the vernal equinox, as the beginning of the new solar year and gave it the beautiful Tajik name ‘Navruz.’”
