President Emomali Rahmon’s Working Tour to Khorugh

DUSHANBE, 30.09.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon inaugurated a 110kV substation in Khorog, which is one of the two new substations in GBAO.
The project was funded by Switzerland — State Secretariat for Economic Affairs in cooperation with Tajikistan and co-financed and implemented by Pamir Energy Company.
The completion of these substations marks a historical juncture in GBAO energy provision, as this is the first time the region has reached 110kV capacity of its power system.
The substations will enable recovery of up to 2.5 MW energy losses during peak hours, which will be used to provide a reliable supply of electricity to areas of growing demand within the GBAO and cross-border areas of Afghanistan.
In addition, President Rahmon inspected the course of construction at Sebzor HPP and the implementation of the program connection of the GBAO power grids to a unified energy grid of the country.
The construction of the power plant began in December 2020. It consists of three water units and its production capacity is 11 MW per day. The total cost of the project is $54 million.
Sebzor HPP is being built within the framework of achieving energy independence and will play an essential role in improving environmentally friendly electricity to population, and will give a serious impetus to the development of the national economy.
The project to connect the GBAO power grids to a unified energy grid is 90% completed.
President Rahmon also got acquainted with the project of Ishkoshim free economic zone located in Khorog. This was followed by the opening ceremony of the health center after its complete renovation, which in turn was followed by the opening ceremony of the Educational Institution 5, which cost 9.8 million somoni to build.
The opening ceremony of the gym complex, with the opening ceremony of the drinking water line for Barakat and Karamsho Street residents followed the list.
Concluding his tour, President Rahmon attended a gala event celebrating Independence Day.
